The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Research under the guidance of
of Sh. K.N.Rao
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a country located in the Middle East that has played a significant role in global affairs due to its vast oil reserves and religious significance. Saudi Arabia, officially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has a land area of about 2,150,000 km², making it the fifth-largest country in Asia, the second largest in the Arab world, and the largest in Western Asia and the Middle East. Most of its terrain consists of arid desert, lowland, flat unforested grassland, and mountains. Its capital and largest city is Riyadh. The country is home to Mecca and Medina, the two holiest cities in Islam. The history of Saudi Arabia dates to ancient times when it was inhabited by various tribes. There is evidence that human habitation in the Arabian Peninsula dates back to about 63,000 years ago, to the Stone Age.

The Emergence of Islam in Arabia
The emergence of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century CE was a significant event that shaped the region’s history. Islam is a monotheistic religion founded by the Prophet Muhammad in the 7th century in the Arabian Peninsula. According to Islamic belief, the Angel Gabriel appeared to Muhammad in a cave near Mecca in 610 CE and revealed to him the first verses of the Quran, the holy book of Islam.Muhammad began preaching the message of Islam, which emphasized the worship of one God, social justice, and moral righteousness. His teachings initially faced strong opposition from the powerful tribes of Mecca, who feared the loss of their status and wealth. In 622 CE, Muhammad and his followers migrated to Medina, an event known as the Hijra, which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
In Medina, Muhammad established a new community of believers and formed alliances with neighboring tribes. Over time, his followers grew in number and strength, and he returned to Mecca in 630 CE with an army of supporters. The city surrendered to him without a fight, and he went on to unite the Arabian Peninsula under the banner of Islam. The spread of Islam began in the Arabian Peninsula and quickly expanded to other parts of the world. The early followers of Islam, led by the Prophet Muhammad, spread the message of Islam through trade, migration, and military conquest.
After the death of Muhammad in 632 CE, his followers, known as the Rashidun Caliphs, continued to expand the Islamic empire. They conquered Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and Persia (Iran), and by the end of the 7th century, the Islamic empire had become one of the largest empires in the world.
The spread of Islam was facilitated by several factors, including the simplicity of its message, the appeal of its teachings, and the military and political strength of the Islamic empire. In addition, the Islamic empire was characterized by religious tolerance, and many non-Muslims were attracted to Islam because of its emphasis on justice, compassion, and equality.Islam also spread through trade, as Muslim merchants traveled throughout the world and established trade networks that extended from Africa to Asia. Muslim scholars and theologians also played an important role in the spread of Islam, as they traveled to different parts of the world to teach and spread the message of Islam.
Today, Islam is the second-largest religion in the world, with over 1.8 billion followers. It is the dominant religion in many countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, and has a significant presence in many other parts of the world, including Europe, the Americas, and Australia.Top of Form
Religion and Society
Islam is the dominant religion in Saudi Arabia, the society is in general deeply religious, conservative, traditional, and family-oriented. Many attitudes and traditions are centuries-old, derived from Arab civilization and Islamic heritage.Daily life is dominated by Islamic observance. Five times each day, Muslims are called to prayer from the minarets of mosques scattered throughout the country.Quran is considered the constitution of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic law “sharia’” is the main legal source. In Saudi Arabia, Islam is not just adhered politically by the government but also it has a great influence on the people’s culture and everyday life.Saudi Arabia is the only Muslim country where shops and other public facilities are required to close during prayer time which takes place five times a day and employees and customers are sent off to pray.
According to official statistics 85-90% of Saudi Arabian citizens are Sunni Muslims, 10-12% are Shia. More than 30% of the population is made up of foreign workers who are predominantly but not entirely Muslim.Arabic is the official language of Saudi Arabia, but English is widely spoken. It is used in business and is a compulsory second language in schools. The country’s strict interpretation of Islam has led to criticism from human rights groups, particularly over issues such as the treatment of women and religious minorities. Women were granted the right to drive in 2018, a significant milestone in the country’s history.

The Shia Sunni Divide
Both Sunni and Shia Muslims share the fundamental Islamic beliefs and articles of faith. The schism between the two initially stemmed not from spiritual differences but from political ones.
After the death of the Prophet Muhammad, a debate ensued over who should take his place as leader of the faith. Most of the prominent Muslims of Medina claimed that Muhammad had named no successor and elected Abu Bakr, the Prophet’s closest advisor and companion, as the first caliph (successor). This was an extremely controversial appointment, as other Muslims argued that Muhammad had designated Ali ibn Abi Talib as his successor. Ali was the Prophet’s son-in-law and closest male relative, and those who supported him felt not only that his succession had been the intention of the Prophet but also that his blood tie to Muhammad was a sacred bond.
Other regional tribes who had accepted Islam were breaking from the faith upon Muhammad’s death, and without strong leadership the regional cohesiveness established in Muhammad’s time was threatened. Perhaps with that in mind, Ali neither supported nor actively opposed the election of Abu Bakr, who reigned briefly as caliph and effectively suppressed the various uprisings.Ali’s supporters, who believed that direct descendants of Muhammad were the only rightful leaders of the faith, would become known as the Shia (from “Shi’at Ali,” or “the party of Ali”).
Those who became Sunni believed instead that their leaders should be elected from among those most capable of worldly as well as spiritual leadership. Both sides occasionally gained control in the fractious early Caliphate, and although Ali eventually became the fourth caliph, his reign was short and ended in assassination. He was followed by Muawiyah of the prominent Umayyad family, but when Muawiyah was succeeded by his son, Yazid I, the Shia revolted, demanding that Ali’s son, Hussein, be named caliph. Hussein set out from Mecca to meet his supporters, but he and his family were massacred by Umayyad troops at the Battle of Karbala. While political power would occasionally still shift after this, the Shia were to remain an often-persecuted minority throughout the era of the Caliphate.
Shia doctrine is based on an interpretation of Islam established by the “imams,” religious leaders who were descendants of Muhammad and whom the Shia consider to be the sole interpreters of Islamic theology. In Shiism, the Qur’an contains layers of meaning beneath the literal meanings that were revealed by the imams. The Shia also have their own versions of the “hadith,” the collected sayings and deeds of the Prophet, and thus have a distinct interpretation of Islamic law and culture. The Shia tradition adds to Islam a significant passion element, the observance of the murders of Ali and Hussein, and an occult and messianic element, the belief that Muhammad al-Mahdi, the twelfth and “hidden” imam who disappeared in 874 A.D., is alive but hidden from the world by God and will return in the final days to restore the world to justice.
While the Shia remain a minority denomination, their practices and beliefs have had a broad impact on the larger Islamic world.Of the total Muslim population, 87–90% are Sunni and 10–13% are Shi’a. Most Shi’as (between 68% and 80%) live in mainly four countries: Iran, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Iraq.
The First Saudi State
The House of Saud was originally a tribe of nomadic people who traveled the desert in search of water and pasture for their camels. Despite the harsh conditions, the House of Saud held on to their traditions and values, which included a strict adherence to the teachings of Islam. As the years went by, the House of Saud grew in number and influence, but they were often at odds with the Ottoman Empire, which controlled much of the Arabian Peninsula at the time.
The first Saudi state was established in the 18th century by Muhammad bin Saud, a tribal leader from the Najd region of central Arabia. He formed an alliance with a Muslim preacher named Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, who advocated for a strict interpretation of Islam known as Wahhabism. The alliance between the two men helped to unify the tribes of central Arabia and establish the first Saudi state. The state expanded under the leadership of Muhammad bin Saud’s descendants, who ruled the region as a monarchy.
The Second Saudi State
The second Saudi state was established in the early 19th century, but it was short-lived. The Ottoman Empire, which controlled much of the Middle East, viewed the growing power of the Saudi state as a threat and launched a military campaign against them. The Saudi state was eventually defeated in 1818, and the Ottoman Empire assumed control of the region.
The Third Saudi State
During World War I, the Arabian Peninsula was divided into several regions controlled by different tribes and kingdoms. The region that is now Saudi Arabia was ruled by the Ottoman Empire, which was aligned with the Central Powers during the war. However, there were several Arab nationalist movements which sought to overthrow Ottoman rule and gain independence for the Arab states.
After the war, the Treaty of Versailles led to the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and the creation of several new states in the region. The Hejaz region, which includes the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina, was declared an independent state under the rule of Sharif Hussein of Mecca. This state was short-lived, however, as it was absorbed into the newly created Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
The third and current Saudi state was established in 1932, with the unification of the regions of Najd and Hejaz under the rule of Abdulaziz Al Saud. The new state was recognized internationally, and Abdulaziz was recognized as its first king.
Discovery of Oil
On March 3, 1938, an American-owned oil well in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, drilled into what would soon be identified as the largest source of petroleum in the world. The discovery radically changed the physical, human, and political geography of Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, and the world. Before the discovery, Saudi Arabians were largely nomadic. The country’s economy was based on tourism revenue from Muslims’ pilgrimages to the holy city of Mecca.
The discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia was a major turning point for the country, as it transformed the economy and led to rapid modernization. Saudi Arabia quickly became one of the world’s leading oil producers and exporters. The House of Saud used this wealth to modernize the country, building infrastructure, schools, and hospitals. They also strengthened their relationship with the United States, which became a key ally and partner in the development of the Saudi oil industry.
Internal Challenges
During World War II, Saudi Arabia remained officially neutral, but provided support to the Allied Powers. Saudi Arabia was facing its own internal challenges during this time, including territorial disputes with neighboring countries and conflicts between different tribes and factions within the country. It was not until after the war that Saudi Arabia began to emerge as a major player on the world stage, due in large part to its vast oil reserves and strategic location in the Middle East.
Modernization and Development
Saudi Arabia has experienced significant economic growth over the past 50 years, largely due to its vast oil reserves and strategic location. The country has been able to leverage its oil wealth to build modern infrastructure and diversify its economy, although oil remains the primary driver of the economy.
In the 1970s, Saudi Arabia experienced a period of rapid economic growth known as the “Saudi economic miracle,” fueled by a dramatic increase in oil prices. This allowed the country to invest heavily in infrastructure, including building new cities, expanding transportation networks, and developing the energy sector. The country also underwent significant urbanization, with new cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah emerging as important economic centers.
In the following decades, Saudi Arabia continued to invest in diversifying its economy, including expanding its petrochemical and manufacturing industries, as well as investing in non-oil sectors such as tourism and finance. The country also launched a series of economic reform initiatives aimed at improving the business environment and attracting foreign investment.
Vision 2030
In recent years, the Saudi government has made efforts to diversify the economy away from oil and promote private sector growth in other areas, such as tourism, manufacturing, and finance. These efforts are part of a broader economic reform program called Vision 2030,
One of the key pillars of Vision 2030 is the privatization of state-owned assets and the creation of a more business-friendly environment. The government has also introduced a range of reforms aimed at attracting foreign investment, including the establishment of special economic zones, the simplification of visa procedures, and the liberalization of the stock market.
The country faces significant challenges in diversifying its economy and creating sustainable growth, particularly in the face of declining oil prices.
Neom is part of Vision 2030: an ambitious plan to revolutionize Saudi society, reduce dependence on oil, and make the country a technology hub.Neom is arguably the world’s largest and most controversial architecture project. An initiative of crown prince Mohammed bin Salman – Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler – Neom is a large area of the country that has been earmarked for development. Although often called a smart city, Neom is more accurately described as a region that will contain numerous cities, resorts and other developments. The Saudi development company established to create Neom, is contributing $500 billion to the scheme. Neom encompasses an area of around 10,200 square miles (26,500 square kilometers) in northwestern Saudi Arabia. This is around the size of Albania. According to the developer, Neom will consist of 10 projects that they refer to as regions.
The House of Saud
House of Saud is the ruling royal family of Saudi Arabia. It is composed of the descendants of Muhammad bin Saud, founder of the Emirate of Diriyah, known as the First Saudi state (1727–1818), and his brothers, though the ruling faction of the family is primarily led by the descendants of Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman, the modern founder of Saudi Arabia. It forms a subtribe of the larger prominent ancient Banu Hanifa tribe of Arabia. The most influential position of the royal family is the King of Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarch. The family in total is estimated to comprise some 15,000 members; however, the majority of power, influence and wealth is possessed by a group of about 2,000 of them. Some estimates of the royal family’s wealth measure their net worth at $1.4 trillion. This figure includes the market capitalization of Saudi Aramco, the state oil and gas company, and its vast assets in fossil fuel reserves.
The succession to the Saudi Arabian throne was designed to pass from one son of the first king, Abdulaziz, to another. The monarchy was hereditary by agnatic seniority until 2006, when a royal decree provided that future Saudi kings are to be elected by a committee of Saudi princes. King Salman, who reigns currently, first replaced the next crown prince, his brother Muqrin, with his nephew Muhammad bin Nayef. In 2017, Muhammad bin Nayef was replaced by Mohammad bin Salman, King Salman’s son, as the crown prince after an approval by the Allegiance Council with 31 out of 34 votes.
Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (born 31 August 1985)is Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. He also serves as the chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and chairman of the Council of Political and Security Affairs. He is considered the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, being deemed as such even before his appointment as prime minister in 2022. He served as minister of defense from 2015 to 2022. He is the seventh son of King Salman. After obtaining a law degree from King Saud University, he served as an advisor to his father. After Salman became king, he appointed Mohammed defense minister and deputy crown prince in 2015. Mohammed was promoted to crown prince after the dismissal of Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, King Salman’s nephew, in 2017. Salman ceded the position of prime minister to his son in 2022.
A CIA report released in 2021 implicated him of being personally linked to the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi Arabian Washington Post columnist and critic of Saudi government, but Mohammed has denied involvement in the killing.
Mohammed was the architect of Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and famine there. His government was also involved in the escalation of the Qatar diplomatic crisis, the 2017 detention of Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri, a 2018 diplomatic spat with Canada, the arrest of Saudi princes and billionaires in 2017, the 2018–2019 Saudi crackdown on feminists, an alleged phone hack against Amazon chairman Jeff Bezos in 2019, and treason charges against his cousin and rival Muhammad bin Nayef in 2020.
Foreign Relations
The lucrative petroleum trade fostered sophisticated diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and the West, as well as Japan, China, and Southeast Asia. Most industrialized nations depend on petroleum imports, and Saudi Arabia to have an outsized role in some foreign policy decisions, especially those surrounding the Middle East.
Relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States became formalized in the 1951 with a Mutual Defense Assistance Agreement. Under the agreement, USA provides military protection to the Kingdom in exchange for a reliable oil supply from the Saudis, pricing of oil in USA dollars, and Saudi support for American foreign policy operations across the world.Saudi Arabia has maintained a close relationship with the United States, which has relied on the country as a key ally in the Middle East. The two countries have cooperated on a range of issues, including counterterrorism, regional security, and energy. However, Saudi Arabia’s relationship with the USA has been strained at times, particularly over issues such as human rights and the war in Yemen.
In recent years Saudi Arabia has actively forged alliances with Russia and China.
Saudi Arabia’s relations with its neighbors have been shaped by various factors, including geography, politics, and religion. Here is a brief overview of Saudi Arabia’s relations with its neighbors:
Iran: Saudi Arabia and Iran have a long history of tense relations due to their differing interpretations of Islam and their regional power rivalry. Shia constitute 95% of the population of Iran and the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran mandates that the official religion of Iran is Shia Islam. The two countries have supported opposing sides in conflicts in the region, such as in Syria and Yemen, and have engaged in a war of words on numerous occasions. The 2016 execution of a prominent Shia cleric in Saudi Arabia led to the severing of diplomatic ties between the two countries. On 10 March 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement restoring diplomatic relations after years of hostility. This reconciliation was mediated by China.
Iraq: Saudi Arabia has had a complex relationship with Iraq, which was dominated by Sunni Muslims during the rule of Saddam Hussein. After the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the rise of Shia-led governments, Saudi Arabia became concerned about Iranian influence in Iraq and has supported Sunni politicians and groups there. However, the two countries have recently made efforts to improve their relations.
Kuwait: Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have traditionally had close ties, with the Saudi royal family having close family connections with the Kuwaiti ruling family. Saudi Arabia provided military support to Kuwait during the Gulf War, and the two countries cooperate on issues such as border security and energy.
Qatar: Saudi Arabia and Qatar have had a tumultuous relationship in recent years, with Saudi Arabia leading a blockade of Qatar in 2017, accusing the country of supporting terrorism and being too close to Iran. The blockade was lifted in January 2021, and the two countries have since been making efforts to restore their relations.
Yemen: The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Yemen has been complex and often strained. Saudi Arabia has been involved in the conflict in Yemen since 2015, leading a coalition of Arab countries in support of the internationally recognized government of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. The conflict has been characterized by significant humanitarian suffering and casualties and has strained relations between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.Saudi Arabia has also been accused of causing significant humanitarian suffering in Yemen due to the blockades it has imposed on the country. The blockades have made it difficult for humanitarian aid to reach Yemen, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.Despite the conflict, Saudi Arabia and Yemen have maintained some level of diplomatic relations. In January 2021, Saudi Arabia and Yemen signed an agreement to resolve their border disputes, which had been ongoing for decades. However, the conflict in Yemen and the humanitarian crisis it has caused continue to be major sources of tension between the two countries.
United Arab Emirates (UAE): Saudi Arabia and the UAE have had a strong alliance, with the two countries cooperating on issues such as security and economic development. The two countries have also worked together in the military intervention in Yemen and have taken a tough stance against Iran.
Israel:The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Israel has historically been tense due to political, religious, and ideological differences. In recent years, there have been some signs of warming relations between the two countries. The main driver of this warming relationship appears to be a shared concern over Iran’s growing influence in the region. Both Saudi Arabia and Israel see Iran as a major threat and have expressed support for tougher measures against the country, including economic sanctions and military action if necessary. Many Saudi citizens are deeply opposed to any kind of rapprochement with Israel, and the Saudi government has traditionally been a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause.
The 10 March agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia will also lead to change in Israel and Saudi Arabia relations. Its notable that the treaty happened immediately before the start of Rahu Maha dasha of Israel.
Expatriates
The discovery of oil also changed the demographics of the kingdom. Today, millions of foreign workers—from the U.S., India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and the Middle East—live and work in Saudi Arabia. They play a significant role in the Saudi Arabian economy. In fact, it is estimated that more than a third of the country’s population consists of foreign workers, including skilled and unskilled laborers, professionals, and managers. While the government has made efforts to reduce the number of foreign workers in recent years, it is likely that expatriates will continue to play a significant role in the country’s labor market and economy for the foreseeable future.
Economy
The economy of Saudi Arabia is largely driven by the oil industry, which accounts for around 40% of the country’s GDP, 80% of its export earnings, and 90% of its government revenues. As a result, the Saudi Arabian economy is highly dependent on global oil prices, and fluctuations in the oil market can have a significant impact on the country’s economic performance. The economy is characterized by a combination of state control and private enterprise. The government plays a significant role in the economy through its ownership of key industries and infrastructure, as well as its provision of public services such as education and healthcare. At the same time, there is a growing private sector that is becoming increasingly important in driving economic growth and job creation.

After the founding of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932, several key events have shaped the country’s history. Here are some of the most significant events:
The dasha at the time of birth of the nationwas Moon-Saturn-Sun. Moon is the exalted ninth lord, Saturn is the fourth lord aspecting ninth house and Sun is placed in the 11th house of gains. All the planets are 1-5-9 from each other. The country is formed in the name of religion. The dasha of Moon exalted in the seventh house was excellent for the start of a new nation. Mars Mahadasha (1937-1944)
Discovery of oil (March 1938): American geologists discovered oil in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, leading to the formation of the Saudi Arabian oil industry and the country’s rapid economic development.
The dasha running was Mars- Rahu-Jupiter. Mars is the lagna lord in the ninth house of luck, Cancer a watery sign and conjunct with Venus symbolizing liquids. Rahu in the fourth house aspected by Mars clearly points to deep excavation and discovery of oil. This is the promise of Venus and Moon exchange with ninth house, change of fortunes and creation of destiny through oil. From 1944 to 1962, Saudi Arabia experienced significant changes and developments, both domestically and internationally. Here are some of the key events and trends during this period:
The end of World War II and the Cold War: The end of World War II marked the beginning of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, and Saudi Arabia aligned itself with the United States during this period. Rahu dasha gave them unconventional alliances and partners. America actively supported Saudi Arabia.
Establishment of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco): The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO) was originally formed as the California Arabian Standard Oil Company (CASOC). However, in 1944, it was reorganized as a joint venture between the Saudi government and several American oil companiesAramco became one of the largest oil companies in the world and played a major role in the development of the Saudi economy. This included the creation of a welfare state that provided free healthcare, education, and other social services to Saudi citizens. The windfall income receivedfrom oil sale is used for welfare activities. Aspect of Jupiter does that. Jupiter is placed in Leo the royal sign and is Vargottam.
Political turmoil: On 9 November 1953, King Saud succeeded his father, King Abdulaziz, and faced significant political challenges during his reign. This included opposition from conservative religious groups and economic difficulties caused by falling oil prices. Dasharunning was Rahu-Mercury-Mars-Rahu-Venus. Mercury as the eighth lord is badhak for this chart. As the eighth lord aspecting fourth house, it had to bring change in the government. From Rahu as lagna, Mercury is again the eighth lord and its dasha had to bring turmoil and setbacks. Mars is the debilitated lagna lord and also the lord of fourth house from Antar dasha lord Mercury. In Jamini the Leo dasha started in Sep 1951. Leo, we know is the dasha of major upheavals. King Saud’s reign was marked by rivalry with Arab nationalist Egypt in the region and a power struggle with his brother Faisal at home.
Establishment of the Council of Ministers (1953): King Saud established the Council of Ministers, a body of advisors who assist the king in making decisions and setting policy. The Saudi Council of Ministers is the cabinet of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dasha running was Rahu-Moon-Saturn. Moon is an extremely good dasha for the leadership role. All the planets are connected to Kendra.
Regional tensions: In 1961, tensions between Saudi Arabia and Egypt escalated over the Yemeni Civil War. Saudi Arabia supported the royalist forces in Yemen, while Egypt backed the republican forces. This led to a series of border skirmishes between the two countries and ultimately contributed to the outbreak of the North Yemen Civil War in 1962. Dasha running was Rahu-Moon and Rahu-Mars.
Rivalry between King and Half-brother. An intense rivalry between the King and his half-brother, Faisal of Saudi Arabia emerged, fueled by doubts in the royal family over Saud’s competence. This was of special concern given the Arab Cold War between Gamel Abdel Nasser’s United Arab Republic and the pro-U.S. Arab monarchies. Dasha running was Rahu-Mars which directly threatened the position of the king.
Jupiter Dasha 10 Aug 1962
Jupiter is the second and fifth lord placed in the 10th house. It will add to the stature of Saudi Arabia. From Jupiter as lagna, the fourth lord is debilitated and placed in the twelfth house. This dasha must give turmoil to the seat of power.

The Yemeni Civil Warstarted almost immediately on26 September 1962 – 1 December 1970. It had a significant impact on Saudi Arabia. A group of army officers led by Abdullah as-Sallal launched a coup against the Yemeni monarchy, which was supported by Saudi Arabia and other conservative Arab states. The royalist forces, supported by Saudi Arabia, launched a countercoupin an attempt to restore the monarchy.Saudi Arabia provided military and financial support to the royalists and even deployed its own troops to fight in the conflict. The war was seen as a potential security threat to Saudi Arabia’s southern border. The war posed a potential ideological threat to Saudi Arabia’s conservative monarchy. The Republican forces in Yemen were socialist and supported by Egypt, which was under the leadership of Gamal Abdel Nasser, a staunch nationalist and anti-monarchist. The success of the Republican forces in Yemen could have emboldened leftists and nationalists in Saudi Arabia and threatened the kingdom’s conservative monarchy.
The Yemen war put a significant strain on Saudi Arabia’s economy and military resources. The cost of the war was high, and it drained the country’s financial resources. Additionally, the war strained relations between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which was supporting the Republican forces in Yemen.Saudi Arabia was able to weather the storm and emerge as a stronger and more influential regional power in the aftermath of the conflict. It recognized the Republic Govt in Yemen in 1970 and the war ceased. Egypt lost heavily in this war and it’s also called Egypt’s Vietnam.
From the maha dasha lord Jupiter as lagna, third lord has gone to the 12th house and is conjunct with debilitated Mars. It showed the troubles and coupsintheir neighboring country. The involvement of Venus as the tenth lord shows owncountry’s involvement in the Yemen’s affairs.
