Transit of Malefic Planets on Gemini In India’s Varshphal Chart

There are several deep mysteries in Astrology which point to the future events. Ashtakvarga points in the chart and transit are such tools which confirms the promise of an event and helps in its timing. Our guruSh. K.N. Rao shared with us that whenever Mars transits in Gemini, major events happen in India. Gemini has only 19 points in Sarvashtakvarga chart of India and in the Bhinnashtak of Moon’s chart, Gemini sign has zero points. Moon is the Manas, mind of the country and Mars transit there brings hurt to the nation.Mars is also the lord of seventh and twelfth house and a marak bhava for the nation.Gemini is the twelfth house from India’s natal Moon and the transit of malefic planets here is not considered good.

In this study we looked at the Varsphal charts of India since 1947 and observed the events whenever malefic planets transited in Gemini sign.

1. India’s Lagna chart has Mars placed in Gemini and the nation was seared with the partition riots which killed millions of people and left a deep scar on the fledging nation. The aspect of Mars and Saturn on the ninth house saw the tragic assassination of Gandhiji on 30 Jan 1948.

• In the Varshphal chart of 1949 – Mars is placed in Gemini in the ninth house.

By 1949, India was in the final stages of drafting its Constitution, which was adopted on 26th November 1949, coming into effect on 26th January 1950, making India a republic. The ninth lord has gone to the eleventh house of constitutional amendments. Its conjunction with Saturn saw the longest constitution in the world.

The fourth house has debilitated Jupiter placed there and is aspected by Mars and Sun. Communal riots occurred in various regions, especially between Hindus and Muslims, often linked to the aftermath of Partition.Kashmir conflict saw continued skirmishes between Indian and Pakistani forces, despite a ceasefire in early 1949.Hyderabad violence persisted, particularly with the Telangana Rebellion, involving communist insurgents.Communist uprisings occurred in regions like West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, leading to violent confrontations with government forces.The government dealt with issues like rehabilitating refugees from the partition of India and Pakistan, economic development, and integrating princely states into the Indian Union.This year saw the adoption of constitution of India and of Supreme court.

Assam Earthquake (August 15, 1950): A devastating earthquake hit the northeastern state of Assam, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The earthquake, one of the most severe in India’s history, had a magnitude of 8.6.

• In Varshphal chart of 1962, Mars is placed in the fifth house in Gemini. Lagna lord Saturn has gone to the 12^thhouse, is in Rahu/ Ketu axis and is aspected by Mars. The fourth lord Venus is debilitated in the eight house aspected by Mars. China attacked India in Sep- Oct 1962 and the country saw a humiliating defeat.

• In Varshphal chart of 1963, Moon and Rahu are in Lagna in Gemini.

In December 1963, the theft of a holy relic—the Moi-e-Muqqadas, believed to be a hair of Prophet Muhammad—from the Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, sparked widespread protests and anger among the local population.

Anti-Hindi Agitations in Tamil Nadu :The anti-Hindi movementsaw agitations in Tamil Nadu in 1964. Many Tamils opposed the central government’s push to make Hindi the official language of India and protests and demonstrations were organized by Dravidian parties and other groups.

Naga Insurgency in Northeast India:The Naga insurgency in the northeastern region of India, led by the Naga National Council (NNC) continued during this period. There were frequent clashes between the Indian army and Naga rebelsresulting in violence, loss of life, and a challenging security situation in the Northeast.

Communal Tensions and Hindu-Muslim Riots:Communal tensions persisted in various parts of India. Communal riots broke out in Calcutta and led to property destruction, injuries, and several deaths.The government often deployed police and military forces to restore order.

Labor Strikes and Worker Protests:Workers organized strikes to demand better wages and working conditions. Strikes in industries like textile, railway, and mining affected productivity and led to confrontations between workers and management.

Student Protests and Political Unrest:University students, particularly in states like West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Kerala, participated in protests against various issues, including education reform, employment opportunities, and political policies.

Death of Jawaharlal Nehru (May 27, 1964): India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, passed away, marking the end of an era. Tenth house receives the aspect of Mars and Saturn.

These events reflected underlying socio-political issues, regional disparities, language debates, and communal tensions, all of which contributed to a period of unrest and highlighted the challenges faced by the Indian government in maintaining unity and stability in a diverse nation.

• In Varshphal chart of 1964,Mars- Rahu- Venus are in Gemini in 10^th house.

Pakistan’s Operation Gibraltar: Pakistan launched covert operations, sending infiltrators into Kashmir to incite insurgency against Indian rule. This operation was a precursor to a broader conflict between the two nations.  Lagna receives the aspect of Mars and Saturn while fourth house of India’s land is in Rahu/Ketu axis and is aspected by Mars.

• In Varshphal chart of 1966 Jupiter and Mars are in the fourth house. There was a severe draught in the country with large parts of the country especially in Northern and eastern side suffering water shortages and crop failures.  Lagna makes a connection with Mars and Saturn.

• In Varshphal chart of 1971Gemini lagna is rising and the lagna lord Mercury is aspected by Mars. Mars is conjunct with Rahu and placed in the eighth house. India and Pakistan went to war this year and Bangladesh was formed.

• In Varshphal chart of 1973 Saturn and Ketu are placed in the seventh house in Gemini. Veteran leader Jay Prakash Narayan started the Bihar Movement which challenged the authority of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Nationwide railway strike by George Fernades in May brought the nation to stand still.

• In Varshphal Chart of 1974 Moon and Saturn were conjunct in4^th house. Political Unrest and Protests: By mid-1974, political unrest was growing across India, especially due to rising inflation, unemployment, and corruption.Industrial Strikes and Labour Unrest: 1974 saw numerous industrial strikes and labour unrest across the country. Declaration of Emergency (June 25, 1975): In response to growing political and social unrest, along with the fallout from the court ruling, Indira Gandhi declared a state of Emergency on June 25, 1975.Civil liberties were suspended, censorship was imposed on the press, opposition leaders were arrested, and Parliament was sidelined. The Emergency marked one of the most controversial periods in Indian democratic history.

Saturn’s transit in Gemini brought far reaching changes in India with widespread civil disobedience, draconian laws and suffering to the people.

1. Varshphal of 1979– Mars in Gemini in the 12^th house. August 1979Political Instability and Crisis:

The Janata Party government, led by Prime Minister Morarji Desai, faced growing discontent and instability. The coalition was fraught with internal conflicts and disagreements, which weakened its governance and credibility.

December 1979 Resignation of Morarji Desai: Morarji Desai resigned as Prime Minister on January 15, 1979, due to internal party conflicts and pressure from coalition partners.

January 1980 Charan Singh Becomes Prime Minister: Charan Singh, the leader of the Lok Dal party, took over as Prime Minister following Desai’s resignation. His government was short-lived, facing opposition from various quarters, and he ultimately resigned in January 1980 after failing to secure a majority in the Lok Sabha.

Return of Indira Gandhi: In the elections held in January 1980, the Indian National Congress, under the leadership of Indira Gandhi, won a decisive victory.

Jayaprakash Narayan (JP), a prominent Indian independence activist and political leader, passed away on October 8, 1979.

Sanjay Gandhi, the younger son of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, died in a tragic plane crash on June 23, 1980.

Mars placement in Gemini in the 12^th house showed losses to successive Prime Ministers.

Bhopal Gas Tragedy (December 2-3): A gas leak at the Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal resulted in one of the world’s worst industrial disasters. Thousands died, and many more suffered from long-term health effects, leading to widespread outrage and calls for accountability.

Bihar’s Mandal Commission Report Implementation: The recommendations of the Mandal Commission, which suggested reservation of jobs and educational institutions for backward classes, were implemented in 1988. Communal Violence: Following the Babri Masjid demolition, communal riots erupted in various parts of India, including Mumbai, where significant violence took place, leading to a heavy police crackdown. The riots underscored the fragility of communal harmony in India and highlighted the ongoing struggles between different religious communities.

Plague Outbreak in Surat (September 1994) A deadly outbreak of pneumonic plague occurred in Surat, Gujarat, in September 1994, sparking widespread panic. Over 50 people died, and thousands fled the city, fearing the spread of the disease. The outbreak caused alarm globally and led to the isolation of India, with many countries temporarily banning Indian travellers and imports.

Kashmir Conflict and Militancy The conflict in Jammu and Kashmir continued to intensify during 1994-1995, with increased militant activities, cross-border terrorism, and confrontations between Indian security forces and separatist groups. The situation in Kashmir was marked by human rights concerns and continued efforts by the Indian government to restore peace, but with limited success.

United Front Government fall as H. D. Deve Gowda Prime Minister from June 1, 1996 – April 21, 1997,resigned after losing the support of the Congress party.Inder Kumar Gujral Becomes Prime Ministerheading the United Front coalition.

Assassination of Chandrashekhar Prasad (March 31, 1997), a prominent student leader and activist from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). His death led to massive protests across the country, with students and activists demanding justice.

 The Fodder Scam Breaks (1996-1997)The Fodder Scam, a major corruption scandal in Bihar, came to light during this period. It involved the embezzlement of government funds meant for cattle fodder by politicians and bureaucrats.

Indian Parliament Attack (December 13, 2001) Terrorists attacked the Indian Parliament in New Delhi, killing nine people, including security personnel, before all five attackers were shot dead. The attack brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war, leading to a massive military buildup along their border.

Godhra Train Burning (February 27, 2002) The Sabarmati Express was set on fire at Godhra station in Gujarat, killing 59 Hindu pilgrims. The pilgrims were returning from Ayodhya after participating in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Gujarat Riots (February – March 2002) Communal violence broke out in Gujarat following the Godhra train burning incident. The incident triggered widespread riots across Gujarat, leading to the deaths of over 1,000 people. The riots were one of the worst instances of communal violence in India since Partition.

Earthquake in Maharashtra (September 30, 2002) A devastating earthquake struck the Satara district of Maharashtra on September 30, 2002. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.1, caused widespread damage in rural areas, killing over 20 people and injuring several others.

Akshardham Temple Attack: September 24, 2002Armed terrorists attacked the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, killing 33 people.

• Varshphal 2003 Saturn in 10^th house

The Indian general elections of 2004 were held to elect members of the 14th Lok Sabha. In a surprising result, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), lost to the Indian National Congress (INC)-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA).  Dr. Manmohan Singh was sworn in as India’s 14th Prime Minister on May 22, 2004.

POTA Controversy and Repeal (2004)POTA, enacted in 2002, continued to face criticism for its alleged misuse, especially against minorities. The UPA government repealed POTA in 2004 after coming to power, replacing it with a more moderate anti-terrorism law.

Fourth lord Saturn is placed in the eighth house with Venus the lord of twelfth house showing sudden losses. Lords of trik houses, sixth, eighth and twelfth houses have made a connection with the fourth house.

Tsunami Hits India December 26, 2004A devastating tsunami triggered by a 9.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Indian Ocean, causing massive destruction across the eastern coast of India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. More than 12,000 people died in India, and thousands were displaced.

Mumbai Floods July 26, 2005Mumbai was hit by catastrophic floods due to heavy rainfall The floods paralyzed the city, claiming over 1,000 lives and causing significant damage to property and infrastructure.

Anna Hazare movementSocially, movements for transparency, led by activist Anna Hazare, gained momentum in early 2011, calling for the establishment of the Jan Lokpal Bill to combat corruption. Congress lost the elections and BJP led by Narendra Modi formed the Govt. The2014 General Elections marked a pivotal moment in Indian politics. The elections, held in April-May 2014, resulted in a significant shift in power, ending the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government led by the Indian National Congress after a decade in power.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under the leadership of Narendra Modi, won a landslide victory.

• Varshphal 2019 – Rahu in 9^thhouse,Abrogation of Article 370 (August 5, 2019)

The Government of India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. This move aimed to integrate the region more fully into India but faced significant backlash and unrest.

Floods in Kerala (August 2019)Heavy monsoon rains led to severe flooding in parts of Kerala, causing significant damage and displacing thousands of people.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan (August 5, 2020)The foundation stone for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a ceremony attended by prominent figures. This was following the Supreme Court’s verdict in November 2019 that allowed the construction of the temple.

COVID-19 Pandemic The COVID-19 pandemic continued to affect India in August 2020, with a surge in cases and deaths. The government implemented various containment measures, including localized lockdowns, to control the spread of the virus.

• Varshphal 2020 – Rahu, Venus in 7^th house

Farm Bills Controversy in September Indian Parliament passed three controversial farm bills aimed at deregulating the agricultural sector, leading to widespread protests by farmers, especially in Punjab and Haryana.

In April 2021 the Second Wave of COVID-19started and India experienced a devastating rise in cases and deaths, overwhelming healthcare facilities.

Key Findings of our analysis of transit of malefic planets in Gemini are mentioned below.

Transit of Malefic Planets over Gemini

1. Saturn’s transit over Gemini brings civil unrest and mass civil movements. It also leads to improved rights for citizens by enactment of better laws. Saturn has so far transited twice on independent India’s chart, the first led to the Non-cooperation movement of Jay Prakash Narayan in 1973-74 and the second transit to Godhra riots in 2002-03. Both the transits changed the Indian political scene comprehensively.

• Mars connection to Gemini brings riots, death of prominent people and mass Casualties.

• Rahu brings attacks by militants, worst plagues and deaths, major departures from past in whichever house its placed.

• Ketu brings revolutionary changes in the fabric of country.

Placement of Gemini in different Houses with malefic influence

1. Placement in the fifth house brings loss of lives to people

• Varshphal 2026 – Mars in the 12^th house

Mars in the twelfth house has been seen to give losses to the incumbent government. Malefic planets on both side of Lagnagives problems and losses to the nation. Debilitation of fourth lord Venus and aspect of Mars and Saturn points to national calamities and violence plaguing the nation.

• Varshphal 2028 – Mars, Venus and Ketu in the sixth house

Points to a major calamity in government and an event which will change the course of thinking of the nation. Ketu in Mercury has brought radical changes in the mood of the nation in the past.It will also lead to radical changes in the Indian constitution.The nation will be beset with many challenges and religious tensions and riots.

• Varshphal of 2029 – Ketu in the 2 house

The divisive voices will become strong in 2029, Sikh militancy will be on the riseand problems will also beset the seven sisters states where insurgency will be on the rise. The lagna connects to the trik houses showing internal strife and challenges to the nation.

• Varshphal 2032 – Sat in 6 house and Mercury in Mars/Sun axis in the 7 house

The lagna lord Saturn in the sixh house and severe affliction to lagna and fourth house points to a war like situation and attacks on the nation. The Rahu/ Ketu axis on the fourth house also shows ideological differences and riots and violence in the country.

• Varshphal2033 – Sat-Venus in the second house aspected by Mars

The massive affliction to India’s Lagna continues and the country will be besieged with problems on all fronts. The attacks on India will continueand India will incur heavy losses of people, property and resources. There will be several fires that will lead to massive losses. The government will also change at this time.

• Varshphal2034

 The year will prove to be one of the worst years for Indialagna lord Sun gone to the twelfth house and hedged between Saturn and Debilitated Mars. Rahu/Ketu axis is in the lagna. Massive military attack on India would happen which would cause widespread destruction Millions will suffer with no respite.

The yearly charts clearly show several challenging years ahead for India specially from years2032 to 2036 which are likely to be the worst years in India’s life with massive losses to the nation. Forewarned is forearmed so India will do well to prepare for the challenges now. As our Guruji, Sh K.N. Rao had pointed out several years ago, India and the world will be facingmassive challenges to humanity in times to come, most of them through their own doings. Those who refuse to learn from the past are condemned to repeat it. Here’s hoping that humankind will come to its senses before it’s too late and avert the disaster waiting to happen in a few years.
